Family Weekend

On Saturday, MJ got to spend the whole day with the coolest Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, and Grandmas. We had a great Italian lunch, watched MJ learn how to play catch with Dakota, and then went for a nice walk (enjoying the warm weather). MJ actually walked most of the way on her own. What a trooper! Then, on Sunday, we enjoyed the fresh air and family time once again with a nice hike at Paugassett State Park.

Mommy Says No Hitting

Recently, we've been going through a terrible phase of hitting mommy and daddy (and anyone else that she is not particularly happy with). She's starting to understand when we tell her "no hitting" and is showing us by going up to the other to say "mommy hit" or "daddy hit" when really she means she hit us. I told this to her daycare teachers last week and also asked again if she is doing it there. They again told me that she isn't, but she is watching the other kids do it. Lovely. Anyhow, when I picked her up from school today, they told me that she had been saying "Mommy Says No Hitting. Do Nice" repeatedly today. I forgot to ask whether she was saying it in response to other kids hitting or just randomly, but I just thought this was so funny.  

First Haircut

MJ got her first haircut this week. My friend Gigi came over to cut my hair and I figured it would be a good time to give MJ her first trim. I was a bit nervous at first since it's taken so long to grow her hair and I didn't want to take away from that, but it was starting to get too stringy looking. I had Gigi cut my hair first so that MJ could see what she did and we put on Dora for her to watch. Then, when it was MJ's turn, she didn't put up too much of a fight. Rather, she sat in my lap and let Gigi start cutting. She even let her put the smock on at first and then decided it wasn't fun not being able to bring her hands to her face. We took it off and she sat still (watching Dora) while Gigi trimmed her hair. Here are some pictures from before and after, but I will warn you...MJ was having a really BAD hair day BEFORE she got it cut and not much changed after. Therefore, I'm including a picture of the next day after she had a bath.

Her Little Cottage House

 We recently bought MJ her very own house to put in her room. We thought she'd love to bring all her toys in there and play. So far, she's mostly enjoyed playing peekaboo out the windows and sitting in her chair inside the house and reading books. Oh, and the occasional tea party with mommy and daddy.   

Out for a Walk

It's the little things that sometimes are just too cute. MJ and I went for a walk today outside and since she doesn't like to wear gloves, I recently taught her how to put her hands in her pocket to keep them warm. Here's a picture from today. She was walking along with her hands in her pockets. I couldn't resist.

Favorites

I asked MJ who her 2 favorite people on Earth are (fully expecting it to be me and Mommy), and she said "Elephant and Zebra". Well then.

Fun in Vermont

 

We've been lucky enough to get a few weekends this winter up in Vermont with the family. It's been especially fun to see how the kids play together. The highlights of this past trip were celebrating the birthdays with our parents, building house forts with the pillows and blankets, as well as snow tubing down the front yard. It was so much fun, I can't for the life of me figure out what took us so long to realize we could have fun right in our front yard. I guess it was a combination of things...Uncle JD buying Tyler the snowtube for Christmas, the fact that we now have little kids to entertain, as well as Kyle's dedication to spending hours building the jump at the end (which I think was more meant to be a hill to make the tube stop, but ended up turning into a fun jump). 

 

 
 
 

Who would have thought, but even in the cold weather (just like Papa can fall asleep anywhere), MJ took advantage of some snooze time as she was pulled around the front yard in the sled. What a life!

 

  
   
 
 
 

H.O.P.Q.R.S.

MJ knows her whole alphabet now, but every once and a while she starts with an "H" and then skips all the way to "O,P." Spelling the word "HOP," which she obviously doesn't even realize. 

How long will she keep that hat on? 1, 2, or 3 seconds?

It always add a smile to my face to see how much fun MJ has when her daddy plays with her. Here's just a glimpse at the types of things they do together.
